Another treadmill day.  I have 2 kids down with the flu, not fun, thank goodness for a wonderful wife.  Good news though, today at work I took my blood pressure and it was down to 107/71.  I think this running is really helping me.  Is it normal to be gaining weight while running?  I am up to 180, I know muscle weighs more than fat, but that is ten pounds in 3 weeks?  Any ideas?

I gained weight the first month of running too. Couple possible reasons: sore muscles hold extra fluid, blood volume increases, muscles grow, and my favorite--tired people eat more. Don't worry, you will be back where you were in just a bit. You are still getting healthier. A month from now, I am confident the scale will start showing you what you want to see.

Good to see some more activity on here... It sounds like you've been busy with a lot of other things. How is your diet? 3 years ago when I first started to run again I was 196 and had to lose 50lbs. When I first started I really watched my diet close- only eating very healthy foods and running at least once, 6 days a week. My mileage was only about 4-5 miles a day but within 3 months I pretty much lost most of the weight.

So long story short- Watch your diet and don't skip days. Then after about 3 moths you'll be able to eat anything and everything.
